July Mountain Trout Fly Special
If I could have only one dry fly to fish mountain streams containing wild stream-bred trout from now until October it would be the Murray's Flying Beetle in sizes 14 & 16.
Usually I get my best success by fishing my Flying Beetle upstream dead drift by either covering the water or fishing to rising trout. Occasionally, especially on windy days, a snap cast or a roll cast that causes my beetle to splash onto the stream causes a trout to race from half way across the stream to take my fly.
My confidence in the Flying Beetle rest on the fact that it seldom lets me down.
