Many large rainbow trout are stocked in our delayed harvest trout streams. Frequently the greatest concentrations of these large trout are found feeding on the large nymphs in the heavy riffles. Important nymphs here are the stoneflies, caddisflies and dragonflies. A very effective technique which is used by one of my angling friends is to use some of these patterns in a three nymph tandem combination that is often used for smallmouth bass.
