By using a slide presentation and a discussion in my fly shop in Edinburg Virginia I will show you how to read the water on spring creeks so you can identify the feeding stations and cautiously approach these locations. I will discuss the hatches which Charlie Fox and Vince Marinaro revealed to me on the fine Pennsylvania spring creeks and how to select the best fly patterns to match these. There is a special discussion of the tactics I use each year on the fine Montana Spring Creeks and the most productive flies. Since I use very delicate tackle on these streams I will discuss the rods, lines, and special leaders which I find are productive. I will explain the special strikes I use with very fine leaders and the tactics which are very effective when striking these large trout, fighting them, landing them quickly and gently releasing them.
