Take advantage of the great dry fly fishing we are getting in the remote feeder brooks and head water streams. You can part at the trail heads on the Blue Ridge Parkway, National Forest Roads or Skyline Drive and hike down to the streams in order to fish back up the mountain. Good drys now are the Spirit of Pittsford Mills 14, Light Cahill 14 and Olive Stimulator 16. Delayed
Both the North and South Fork of the Shenandoah River are currently too high for good fishing. Several areas received 1 to 3 inches of rain last evening and more is expected today. Therefore it will be at least a few days before everything is fishable.
Mountain Trout Streams- The recent rains have given us a wonderful gift if you are serious about dry fly fishing in these streams. Those small remote streams which were getting very low are now in excellent shape. If you are willing to hike a short distance you can often fish streams which are seldom fished.
