Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 25, 2019

Many of these streams have very large hatches of March Brown Mayflies and you will see many trout sipping in the adult drys and chasing the emergers to the surface.

Recommended Flies: An effective technique is to fish a Mr. Rapidan Parachute Dry size 14 on a Classic 7 1/2ft 5X leader with a Mr. Rapidan Brown Soft Hackle Nymph size 14 on a 3 foot dropper below it. Hot spots are the runs right below the riffles.

Stream Conditions:  All of the local stocked trout streams and delayed harvest areas including Passage Creek (Fort Valley), Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) and Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg) are clear and fishable.

Recommended Gear: I am using a 5X Leader with a 7 1/2ft to 9ft fly rod with a 4 to 6 weight fly line.
