Mountain Trout Streams: The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing.
Large Trout Streams and Delayed Harvest Streams
There are some good midge hatches now on Passage Creek, Big Stoney Creek and Back Creek. The trout are currently feeding on these midges. Watch for feeding trout. Then taper down to 6X or 7X and go one on one with each trout. Do this by using a Mr. Rapidan Midge Dry size 18 or Birchell’s Hatching Midge size 20 if you see a delicate riseform. If you see a splashy riseform use a Bead Head Zebra Copper John size 18.
