Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- April 16, 2018

Many streams in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains are having excellent hatches of Blue Quill and Quill Gordon mayflies. The Blue Quill Dry size 16 and Mr. Rapidan Parachute size 14 will take many of these trout. Pause for a moment below each pool to look for feeders. Then go one on one with these trout. A very effective ploy is to fish a Blue Quill Dry size 16 on a Murray's Classic 7.5 5X Leader with a Blue Quill Nymph size 16 on a two foot 5X dropper below it.
