Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 16, 2021
Share
This is a great time of year to hike into the remote sections of our mountain streams to camp and fish for several days. You will probably get outstanding dry fly fishing because three of our heaviest hatches are on. Often I put on a Mr. Rapidan Parachute Dry size 14 and catch trout in each pool. However, if there is a real heavy Blue Quill Mayfly hatch, I put on a size 16 Blue Quill Dry and fish this to the rising trout. If you want to fish a dry and a dropper then add a Bead Head Hare's Ear Nymph size 14 to a 5X mono off the bend of the Mr. Rapidan Parachute.
The Shenandoah National Park streams are in great shape. For more information on these streams, check out my book Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park.
