Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 24, 2026
Share
The native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park received some rain over the last week, keeping the water at adequate levels. Come into the streams from the lower boundaries for best results. Stay low and hide your approach.
Hot Flies for this week:
- Murray's Flying Beetle size 14
- Mr. Rapidan Ant size 14, 16
- Murray's Yellow Jacket Dry size 14, 16
- Stubby Chubby, size 14, 16
- H & L Variant Dry size 16
Fish these on a Classic 7.5ft 5X or 6X leader.
Mash the barbs down on the flies for easy and fast release of the brook trout. Try to not have them out of the water more than 30 seconds.
