Harry Murray Mountain Trout Stream

Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- March 12, 2018

Mr. Rapidan Bead Head Nymph and Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle Nymph
I am catching trout on our mountain trout streams by fishing a Mr. Rapidan Bead Head Nymph size 12 or a Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle Nymph size 12 upstream dead drift on a Murray's Trout Nymph 9 foot 5X Leader. This leader contains two Scientific Anglers Indicators. Good action can be found in the heads of the streams so I like to park at the trail heads on the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway to hike down about a mile. Then fish back up the mountain. These access points are listed in my book, Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park and Virginia Blue-Ribbon Streams.
