Mountain Trout Streams: The ideal water temperatures are prompting excellent hatches of Epeorus mayflies and Paraleptophlebia adoptiva mayflies. I match these with a Mr. Rapidan Parachute size 14, Murray's Professor Dry size 14 and Blue Quill Dry size 16. The largest trout are choosing feeding stations in the corners of the pools and on the lips of the pools. This is a great time to hike into the remote feeder brooks and heads of the streams to camp and fish for several days. Be sure to fish until dark to take advantage of the spinner fall. Both the Appalachians and Blue Ridge Mountains are in great shape.
