Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - September 30, 2021

Early this week I went to the Shenandoah National Park and did well by coming into the streams from the Skyline Drive. I did well fishing a Mr. Rapidan Parachute Dry size 14 with a Mr. Rapidan Soft Hackle Olive Nymph size 16 as a dropper below it.  The Murray's Flying Beetle size 14 was my second best fly.  The water temperature was running around 56 degrees so make sure you have your hip boots.

The native brook trout will start spawning this month so I try not to fish these streams while they are spawning.

For more information on these streams, see my book Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park.
