Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing Stream Report July 10, 2026

North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Mount Jackson and Edinburg, VA has a little muddy color to it this morning.  The flows are great so I feel sure this will run out of the area quickly so give it another day or so to clear up some.  CFS is currently at 413 in Mount Jackson. (Ideal for wading is under 500)  Water temperature is running in the high 70's.

As of this morning, the South Fork of the Shenandoah River around Elkton to Luray has a "stained" color to it but we have guides that are floating it today. I would recommend fishing the South Fork for today and tomorrow.  CFS is Luray is currently at 505.

For slightly discolored water, use a

  • Murray's Chartreuse Marauder size 6 or 8,
  • Shenk's White Streamer size 6 or 8,
  • Murray's Magnum Streamer, Chartreuse size 4.
