Samllmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - September 12, 2019

Recommended Flies: Many large bass increase their feeding as the rivers become cooler, prompting them to move into the tails of the pools to feed on the minnows.I often catch many bass using a minnow imitation such as the Floating Chub or Floating Dace in size 4. Fish these with a slow strip-pause-strip action. The Murray's Crayfish size 6 has been working well along the cobblestone bottoms. Fish these with a slow two inch darting action along the streambottom where the cobblestones range from softball to basketball sizes.

 Stream Conditions:

The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is low, clear and fishable. Upstream from access #1 on the North Fork has been doing well.  Wade slow and carefully so you do not spook the fish.

The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is low, clear and fishable. Upstream from access #11 (Seakfords) has been productive.  For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
