Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - August 22, 2019

Recommended Flies: I am getting great surface bug action with the Shenandoah Blue Popper size 4 and Murray's Bass Popper Frog against the shady banks and around the grassbeds. I am using a Mastery Bass Bug fly line with a Bright Butt 9ft 2X.

My son and guides have been doing well with a Murray's Crayfish size 6 with two split shot placed about six inches above the fly. Other productive flies include the Dying Minnow Chub size 6, Dying Minnow Dace size 6, Shenandoah Streamer Sunfish, size 6 and Olive Marauder size 6.

 Stream Conditions:

The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream of Access Spot #1 has been doing well.  Wade carefully so you do not spook the fish.

The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. The water levels are good for either wading or floating. Downstream from access #14 (Bealer's) has been doing well.   For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
