Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - August 26, 2026

The North Fork and South Fork of the Shenandoah River are low, clear and fishable. We have been doing well on the North Fork this week by wading carefully and fishing early mornings (5:30 to 8am) and late evenings (6-8pm). With the lower water levels we have started using smaller flies. During the day fish around shady banks, downed trees, and grass beds. The North Fork is best for wading. The South Fork and main stem of the Shenandoah are best for floating. If you need help on access stop by the fly shop. Water temperatures are staying in the low 70's. 

Recommended Flies:

• Murray's Marauder, Olive or Black size 8 or 10
• Woolly Bugger, Black or Olive size 8
• Shenk's White Streamer size 8
• Rubber Leg Nymph, Brown size 8
• Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6
• Bombshell Popper, Bronze or Olive size 6
• Dave's Hopper size 8
