Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- July 23, 2019

Recommended Flies: We are catching some large bass by fishing from dusk to night fishing downstream on the Shenandoah River. I get my best fishing with large flies. The Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker, Magnum Darter and Magnum Creek Chub size 4 are my favorite flies. I wade downstream and cast across and downstream at a 45 degree angle being sure to keep the rod pointed where the line enters the stream and having a tight line all the way down to the fly. In this way I can quickly feel the strike and hook the bass.
Stream Conditions:
The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is currently at a good level. The area of Woodstock #1 and #3 on our master map has been doing well..
The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is slightly stained from the recent rains but overall in good shape to fish. The water levels are good for either wading or floating. For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
