Jeff Murray Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- Update July 7, 2017

Murray's Floating Chub Minnow and Murray's Floating Dace Minnow

Due to the recent rains some areas of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River are discolored but still fishable. The South Fork is slightly discolored but still fishable.  If you need help finding areas to go, call me or email.

Some of my favorite and most productive smallmouth bass fishing begins now and will last until early October. At dusk many large bass move into the tails of the pools where the water is a foot to three feet deep to feed on the natural chub and dace minnows which live here. By fishing the Murray's Floating Chub Minnow and Murray's Floating Dace Minnow upstream with a slow stripping action at dusk I catch many large bass.  Access point #4 (Near Dr. Truban's Vet Clinic) on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is excellent. Access point #11 (Seakford) on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is excellent.
