Harry Murray Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing Gravel Bars

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- Update June 17, 2017

Silver Outcast Streamer, Murray's Heavy Shiner Streamer and Murray's Dying Shiner Minnow.

In addition to the smallmouth bass feeding on the shiner minnows at dawn and dusk which I discussed last week, there are always smallmouth bass feeding on shiner minnows where the gravel bars taper off into the deep water out in the river. By wading down these gravel bars and fishing a Silver Outcast Streamer size 4 or a Murray's Heavy Shiner Streamer size 6 or a Murray's Dying Shiner Minnow size 6 out into the deep water and stripping it back toward the gravel bar, you can catch many large smallmouth bass. UPDATE:  Due to the heavy rains some areas received the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is high, muddy and unfishable.   The North Fork of the Shenandoah River downstream (north) from Edinburg is clear and fishable.  The area upstream (south of Edinburg) is discolored but still fishable.
