Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - Update June 18, 2021

We have actively been checking the stream levels since the heavy rains last week.  The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is at perfect levels and fishable from New Market to Strasburg.   We just checked the South Fork of the Shenandoah River  again yesterday and there is still a little too much water volume for safe wading. You will do better by floating this Fork until the levels drop some more.

For top water action use the Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger size 6, Shenandoah Sunfish Slider size 6 and Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6 on a 2X Leader.  There are many natural crayfish along the cobblestone bottoms and a Murray's Crayfish works great in these areas.  If you are looking for a streamer the Murray's Olive Marauder size 6 is your go to fly.

If you need help on the access places, stop by the fly shop and we will show you our master map with public access.  Also you can check out my book Virginia Blue Ribbon Streams that has all of the Virginia Game Commission access on the North and South Fork.
