Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 4, 2026

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 4, 2026

Both the North Fork and South Fork of the Shenandoah River are clear and fishable. The report really hasn't changed much from our last report over ten days ago besides the water being crystal clear and the bass being very wary.

The best fishing is in the afternoon to late evening when the water temperatures have had time to rise a few degrees. Heavy underwater streamers and nymphs are working best on Murray's Fluorocarbon Leaders. Fish along shady areas and downed trees in the deepest water you can get to. Plan to bring chest high waders in order to wade to areas with deeper water.

Recommended Flies for this Week:

  • Crittermite, Black size 4
  • Murray's Heavy Hellgrammite, Black size 4
  • Murray's Heavy Hellgrammite, Olive size 4
  • Murray's Magnum Streamer, Darter, size 4
  • Murray's Magnum Streamer, Bluegill size 4
  • Murray's Crayfish, Olive or Brown size 4

A 9ft 7-weight fly rod outfit is recommended. We offer several "ready to fish" fly rod and reel outfits to meet your needs.
