Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - September 17, 2025

The North and South Fork of the Shenandoah River are clear and fishable. They are low but definitely fishable.  Some anglers have been doing well by carefully wading and finding deep pockets that provide protection for the bass while waiting for that perfect food to go by.  We are doing well with

  • Murray's Hellgrammite, black size 6
  • Rubber Leg Nymph, Brown size 6
  • Murray's Strymph, Olive size 8
  • Shenandoah Streamer, Skunk size 6

A few anglers are still catching some on topwater along the shady banks with a Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6 and Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger size 6.

The water temperature is getting cooler so consider bringing your chest high waders.
