Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- September 26, 2017

I am catching some exceptionally nice bass by fishing back under the heavily shaded banks with Shenk's White Streamer size 6, James Wood Bucktail size 4 and Murray's Heavy Sunfish Streamer size 6. The smallmouth bass rivers are low and clear so I am using a low side arm cast to present these flies far back below the overhanging tree limbs. Get ready, quickly, because often the strike will come in seconds. If it does not, I swim it out slowly by stripping it six inches every ten seconds.
On the North Fork of the Shenandoah River upstream from access point #1 (Route 661 off Route 11) is good. On the South Fork of the Shenandoah River downstream from access point #14 (Bealer's Ferry) is good.
