Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 30, 2025

The VA DWR will be wrapping up their stocking schedule in the next few weeks so take advantage of the stocked streams while you can. Big Stoney Creek west of Edinburg was just stocked yesterday 4/29 with rainbows and browns. Passage Creek in Fort Valley was just stocked on 4/28 with rainbows. There are many others streams that have been stocked recently. To see the full list, visit the VA DWR website.

Most anglers are having success with nymphs and streamers on the stocked trout streams. A few are being picked up on a Mr. Rapidan Dry Fly size 14. Recommended nymphs include Rubber Leg Nymph Brown size 8, Murray's Hellgrammite size 8, and Bead Head Prince Nymph size 12. Recommended streamers include Murray's Marauder Olive size 10, Betsy Streamer size 10, and Murray's Marauder Black size 10.

Water levels are clear and fishable on all of the local stocked trout streams. If you need help on access, stop by the fly shop.
