Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 18, 2020

In order to take advantage of the Sulphur hatch on the large trout streams, I often fish a dry with a dropper with great success. My favorite combo is the Murray's Sulphur Dry size 16 with a Murray's Sulphur Nymph size 16 on a 24 inch 6X piece of mono below it. This is productive because it is more difficult to read the feeding stations on the large streams than it is on the small mountain streams.

The state does not stock these streams throughout the summer so after June 15 you only need a freshwater fishing license and not a trout license to fish these streams.

The recent rains have provided some excellent water levels for this streams.  All of the local streams such as Big Stoney (west of Edinburg), Passage Creek (Fort Valley), and Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) are clear and fishable.
