Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 20, 2019

Posted by Harry Murray on

Recommended Flies:  The three nymph tactic I discussed last week can easily be extrapolated to a 3 streamer tactic with great success on many trout streams such as Back Creek and the Bullpasture. Three great flies for this tactic are the Shenandoah Silver Ghost, Shenandoah Skunk, and Shenandoah Sunrise all in size 10.  Fish these on a Murray's Classic 7 1/2ft 4X leader with each fly coming off the bend of the fly above it with 2 feet of 4X mono. Fish these across stream below the riffles by stripping them 6 inches every 10 seconds.

Stream Conditions:  All of the local stocked trout streams including Passage Creek (Fort Valley), Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) and Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg) are getting low and clear. Wade carefully and sneak along so you do not spook the fish.
