Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 27, 2019

Posted by Harry Murray on

Recommended Flies:  The deep sections of the Hidden Valley of the Jackson and the deep pockets on Big Stoney Creek west of Edinburg hold many trout that take streamers very well. I use a Sink Tip III line wit a 6ft 3X Sinking Leader with a 3-fly tandem rig of the Shenandoah Silver Ghost, Shenandoah Skunk and Shenandoah Sunrise Streamer all in size 10. Swim these slowly along the stream bottom in these deep areas to catch these large trout.

Stream Conditions:  All of the local stocked trout streams including Passage Creek (Fort Valley), Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) and Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg) are getting low and clear. Wade carefully and sneak along so you do not spook the fish.
