Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 6, 2019

Recommended Flies:  Recent rains have flushed many caddis larva and pupa into the streams where the trout feed heavily upon them. The Hidden Valley of the Jackson and Big Stoney Creek are very productive. Many years ago the late Charlie Brooks of West Yellowstone taught me how to fish the three fly rig and it is very effective in these stream conditions. The Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle size 16, The Murray's Classic Larva size 14, and the Murray's Olive Caddis Pupa size 14 all rigged on a 2ft 4X mono dropper below the fly above it is very effective. Be sure to use the Murray's Nymph Leader with the 2 built in S.A. Indicators to help detect the strikes. This can be fished upstream, or up and across, or across stream.

Stream Conditions:  All of the local stocked trout streams and delayed harvest areas including Passage Creek (Fort Valley), Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) and Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg) are at good water levels and clear.
