The stocked trout in our large streams have become familiar with the large population of nymphs in our riffles and are feeding heavily on them. In order to catch these trout I like to show them nymphs which match mayflies, stoneflies, and caddis. Three of my most productive flies are the Mr. Rapidan Bead Head Nymph size 12, Murray's Dark Stonefly Nymph size 12 and Murray's Caddis Larva size 14. Fish these on a Classic 7.5ft 4X leader.
