Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report-Update October 5, 2018
Share
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is starting to stock some of the trout streams in the state. Passage Creek (Fort Valley) in the designated trout waters and the delayed harvest area were just stocked on October 4. There are many large trout in these streams and on the delayed harvest areas. The olive mayflies are hatching on streams such as Back Creek and Passage Creek.
Use the Mr. Rapidan Parachute Dry size 18 to fish one-on-one with these rising trout and to cover the water. Be sure to fish the Bridge Pool (see page 65 in my Virginia Blue Ribbon Streams book) on Back Creek for risers along the far bank.
Don't forget, starting October 1 you will need a valid freshwater fishing license and a valid trout fishing license to fish the stocked trout streams.
