Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - October 8, 2025
Share
Many anglers are taking advantage of the streams being stocked with nice rainbows and browns. Passage Creek in Fort Valley was stocked within the last week in both the put and take section and the delayed harvest section. Hawksbill in Luray was stocked at the first of the month. VA DWR will continue to stock streams throughout the state so take advantage of it while you can. Make sure you have all licenses up to date to fish these streams.
We received a few showers over night but all local stocked trout streams are clear and fishable. Bring your hip boots and plan to fish and wade downstream so that you are covering all areas of the stream.

The brook trout are spawning, therefore I do not recommend fishing the native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park at this time.
April and May are prime time to fish the native brook trout streams for water levels and hatches. Which is why we conduct our fly fishing schools during April and May. Spring 2026 Dates are open for registration! Click links below for more information.
