Trout Fly Fishing Report for February 7, 2017

Bitch Creek Nymph and Mr. Rapidan Soft Hackle

Trout Fly Fishing Report- Murray's Fly Shop- Edinburg, Virginia

Mountain Trout Streams: The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing.

Delayed Harvest and Stocked Trout Streams: Even in cold streams you can often catch some large trout by fishing large nymphs deeply. The Bitch Creek Nymph size 8 and the Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle Nymph size 8 both often produce very well for me. One good winter tactic is to fish these upstream dead drift in the deep pockets below the riffles in streams like the Hidden Valley of the Jackson and Big Stoney Creek.
