Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - July 22, 2026

The native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park received some rain yesterday. They are still low and clear so use a cautious approach.  Stay low and sneak. Best time is early morning before the stream temperatures rise.  Take your thermometer and if the water temperature is 67 or higher then plan a trip another day or go smallmouth fishing. Anglers are doing well with dry flies and terrestrial patterns. Before you fish, mash down your barbs. When handling brook trout, limit air time to 30 seconds or less.
