Big Stoney Creek and Passage Creek are in great shape. Even though the DWR will not be stocking these with rainbows again until Fall, there are still some leftover. The streams levels are ideal and we are using mostly nymphs and streamers. Recommended flies: Rubber Leg Nymph size 8, Murray's Olive Marauder size 8, Copper John Nymph (Zebra) size 14, and Perdigon Nymphs size 12.
The native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park have excellent water levels and I'm still seeing Little Yellow Stoneflies. I'm using Murray's Little Yellow Stonefly Dry size 16, Mr. Rapidan Dry size 16, Murray's Flying Beetle size 14 and Mr. Rapidan Ant size 14. There are still a few closures from the storms so plan accordingly.
Wade carefully and hide your approach. Try not to fish behind someone--what they didn't catch, they have already spooked. If you need help with access, see my book Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park.
