Virginia Fly Fishing Report for Trout

Murray’s Fly Shop Mountain Trout, Stocked Trout and Delayed Harvest Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report

Mountain Trout Streams: The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing.

Stocked Trout Streams and Delayed Harvest Streams: A good way to cover the best runs and pools thoroughly and match the natural foods the trout are feeding upon is to fish a Murray’s Shenandoah Skunk Simple Streamer size 10. Fish this on a Murray’s Classic 9 foot 4X Leader. Then come off the bend of the streamer hook with two feet of 5X tippet material. Then attach a Murray’s Adams Nymph size 12 to this. Fish this deeply across stream with a very slow stripping action. This is very effective on Passage Creek, Big Stoney Creek and Back Creek.
