Delayed Harvest and Large Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- January 23, 2018

A good friend stopped in my Fly Shop recently and said he had been getting excellent trout fishing. He never would tell me where he was fishing. He simply stated, "I walk away from the roads and fish where most anglers do not fish". He did volunteer that his most effective flies were the Murray's Pearl Marauder size 10 and Murray's Black Marauder size 10. He said that the way we designed and tied the Murray's Marauders enables him to fish all the different types of water he encounters as he roams the remote sections of the streams. For example, if he comes to a heavy riffle with deep pockets he can fish the Murray's Marauders upstream dead drift along the streambottom in these pockets. If he comes to a large pool that is deeply undercut along the far bank he can cast the Murray's Marauder to these undercuts and swim it deeply where the large trout feed.
The Jackson River and Big Stoney Creek West of Edinburg both have long sections of the streams that receive light angling pressure.
