Adult Little Yellow Stonefly Nymph

Delayed Harvest and Large Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- January 2, 2018

Murray's Dark Miracle Stonefly Nymph, Murray's Little Darke Stonefly Dry and Murray's Bronze Stonefly Dry
Each time I see the adult little dark stoneflies and little bronze stoneflies sitting on a snow bank along a stream drying their wings, I get excited! Often I can then find some trout in the flat parts of the pools or in front of log jams feeding on the naturals. These trout are always wary so I circle well below them and approach them on my hands and knees. By presenting a Murray's Dark Stonefly Dry size 16 with a slack line cast on a Murray's Classic 9 foot 6X Leader I can usually take one. However, he scares the rest of the trout in that pool, so I must find another feeding trout.
The lower sections of North Creek and White Top Laurel often provide exciting action. My favorite flies for this fishing are the Murray's Little Dark Stonefly Dry size 16, Murray's Bronze Stonefly Dry size 18 and Murray's Dark Miracle Stonefly Nymph size 14.
