Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - August 19, 2026

The native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park are looking a little better this week. Some areas received almost 2 inches of rain over the weekend. Rose, Hughes, and White Oak Canyon are doing well. For more information on access to the Park streams, see the book Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park. A stealthy approach is recommended. Mornings and evenings are the best times to fish. Water temperatures are staying in the low to mid 60's. There are not any major hatches occurring right now so we are relying on terrestrial patterns like the flies listed below.

Fly Fishing Schools on the Native Brook Trout Streams — Spring 2027

We are booking students in our fly fishing schools for Spring 2027. If you want to learn more about fly fishing for native brook trout, then these schools are for you. We offer them in two different locations. Each school includes a classroom presentation followed by a hands-on experience on a native brook trout stream.
