The native brook trout streams are holding up well in the Shenandoah National Park this summer with the extra rain. The aquatic hatches are over so I am using flies that match the natural foods found along the streams in the summer.
For more information on access to the streams, see my book Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park.
Special includes:
- 3-Murray’s Yellow Jacket Dry size 14
- 3-Murray’s Housefly Dry size 14
- 3-Murray’s Moth Dry size 14
- 2-Murray’s Horsefly Dry size 16
- 2-Mr. Rapidan Midge Dry size 20
- 2-Mr. Rapidan Ant Dry size 18
I use a 6.5' to 7.5' fly rod in a 3-weight on the native brook trout streams. If you are looking for a new fly rod outfit, I recommend the Orvis Clearwater 763.4, or the Scott/ Murray MMT outfit.
