This is a fine fly rod outfit for smallmouth and largemouth bass in all types of water. I would personally recommend it for the smallmouth fishing on the Shenandoah River. The rod has a medium action and it is powerful enough to cast flies up to size 4. We use several of these in our Full Day Fly Fishing Schools on the Shenandoah River in the summer.
