Thin Skin is a flexible, semi-transparent sheet material designed for creating lifelike fly patterns. With a peel-away paper backing, it’s easy to cut into precise shapes and apply cleanly to a variety of fly styles. Thin Skin features a subtle sheen and comes in a range of natural and flashy colors, making it a favorite among fly tyers who demand realism and durability in their patterns.
Best Uses:
Thin Skin excels as a shellback or wing case material on nymphs and scuds, such as the Scud, Sow Bug, and Pheasant Tail Nymph. It’s also ideal for crafting thorax covers, crustacean bodies, and stonefly backs. When ribbed or combined with UV resin, Thin Skin produces a segmented, translucent look that imitates natural insects and aquatic life with exceptional accuracy.
