Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- Murray's Fly Shop Mountain Trout Streams: The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing. Delayed Harvest Trout Streams and Stocked Trout Streams: One of my most effective tactics for catching large trout in cold water is to use a Scientific Anglers Sink Tip III Fly Line.  I use a Murray's Fluorocarbon 6 foot 3X Sinking Line Leader to fish a Bitch Creek Nymph size 8 or a Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle size 8 deeply. Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- Murray's Fly Shop Smallmouth Bass Streams: The smallmouth bass streams are cold but by fishing the slow sections of the deep pools you can catch some good smallmouth bass. The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is good at access point #18 (Meem's Bottom). The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is good at access point #11 (Seakford). Good flies now are the Murray's Heavy Black Hellgrammite size 4, Murray's Heavy Olive Hellgrammite size 4 and Murray's Heavy Brown Hellgrammite. Trout Fly Fishing Report- Murray's Fly Shop- Edinburg, Virginia Mountain Trout Streams: The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing. Delayed Harvest and Stocked Trout Streams: Even in cold streams you can often catch some large trout by fishing large nymphs deeply. The Bitch Creek Nymph size 8 and the Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle Nymph size 8 both often produce very well for me.
