Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- July 17, 2017

The water levels and stream temperatures of these streams are very good. I am getting my best fishing by walking way back into the remote parts of the streams before I start fishing. There are many large trout in these areas and the scenery is outstanding. I am doing well with the Mr. Rapidan Olive Delta Wing Caddis size 16 and Mr. Rapidan Black Delta Wing Caddis size 16.

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- July 17, 2017

The Shenandoah Blue Popper in size 4 and size 6 are giving me great fishing on both the North and South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Access point #3 (Burnshire Bridge) on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is providing good action. All of these streams are at good levels and good temperatures. The lower part of Big Wilson and Whitetop Laurel are both providing excellent fishing. I like to fish Shenk's Cricket Dry size 12 and size 14 and Letort Hopper size 14 upstream on a Murray's Classic 9 foot 5X Leader with these flies. Watch closely for rising trout along the undercut banks.

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- July 11, 2017

The North and South Forks of the Shenandoah River are both clear, the levels are great and the fishing is especially good in the tails of the pools. Access point #1 (Route 661 off Route 11) on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is good. Access point #11 (Seakford) on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is good. I am doing well by fishing the Murray's Floating Dace Minnow size 4 and size 6 and Murray's Floating Chub Minnow size 4 and size 6 in the very lower parts of the pool tails with a slow stripping action....
